Craft Attitude on Display

We're thrilled to see Craft Attitude film hard at work for mixed-media artist Barbara Bryant Hart at her gallery, Work of Hart Studio and Gallery in Northeastern Georgia. Within the acrylic collage artwork, Barbara used the Craft Attitude film for the photo images. Take a closer look at "Jim's Grill" below.

"I was thrilled to find Craft Attitude," Barbara told us. "I've never ever had success with transfers, and I'm not about to spend time scratching off paper or using gummy messy products. I have found that you can paint in acrylics right over the adhered transfer, and it is beautiful. The layering possibilities are endless. Needless to say, I'm sold!"

Keep up the beautiful work, Barbara!

What Should We Do ...?

Craft Attitude pro Anne Grbic printed a floral design on Craft Attitude film and applied it to used bubble wrap, of all things, to create a really interesting textile. She says it feels like a lightly padded satin envelope with a gloss finish -- the whole thing is no more than 1/8-inch thick.

We'd like to know: What should she make with it? Some ideas:

  • small clutch bag
  • sunglass/glass case
  • small table scarf
  • cosmetics bag
  • an ATC card holder

We want to know what you think, too! Let us know your ideas in the comments below or on our Facebook page. Once we get some votes, Anne will craft it into your suggestion, so be sure to check back to see how it turns out.

Here's how she made it:

  1. Cut a piece of large bubble wrap to about 10x13
  2. Print a bright bold floral pattern on 1 full sheet of Craft Attitude
  3. Spray an aerosol photo-safe adhesive spray directly to the printed side
  4. Place the Craft Attitude print side on top of the bubble wrap pressing firmly with hands
  5. Cover the entire project with a thin cotton fabric
  6. Press entire surface with a hot iron until you feel all the bubbles pop
  7. When cool, remove the carrier; it's easier to remove if before ironing, you peel away a corner
  8. After a few hours, finish with a light coat of liquid gloss varnish over the surface. This part is optional. Craft Attitude is matte so I thought the gloss varnish would give it more pop!
Art Retreat at the Lake Shows Its Attitude

We were happy to provide packets of Craft Attitude film to the three-day Art Retreat at the Lake in Mayville, NY, held in mid-September. The retreat was led by Lisa Calarie, as well as art instructors Shannon Crandall and Cathy C. Strate, who taught media/painting, Gelli plate printing, collage painting on canvas and hammered metal jewelry making.

"No one had used the film before so it was a new experience for us all," Lisa tells us. "Personally, I think it could become addictive."

Lisa says the retreat went so well that she's planning it again next year, and will even add an additional day. Here are some photos of the fun the attendees had during their time on the lake:
